Indiana craft brewers are bringing home hardware from this year's Great American Beer Festival. Some Indiana brewing operations were named medal winners at the event over the weekend in Denver. The continued success comes as the state's largest beer and wine supplier reports an increase in demand for craft beer. Monarch Beverage Co. in Indianapolis has created a special division to deal with the rapidly growing segment. Chief Executive Officer Phil Terry discussed the growth during a special edition of Inside INdiana Business Television focusing on the craft beer industry. Terry says the growth over the last five years has been “amazing.”

His company is selling close to 2 million cases per year and Indiana's portion is getting bigger.

Terry attributes the growth to customers demanding a different tates from traditional brews.

He also points out that as of the end of September, Monarch has sold as much Indiana craft beer as all of 2012.

As for this year's Great American Beer Festival, the following Indiana operations came home winners:

Wood-and Barrel-Aged Strong Stout
