Auto Parts Supplier Expands in Whitley County

By Alex Brown
Auto Parts Supplier Expands in Whitley County G&S Auto Parts was founded in 2013.

The Whitley County Economic Development Corp. says an auto parts supplier has expanded its operations. G&S Auto Parts is celebrating the opening of its new facility in Columbia City.

G&S Owner Jeff Southworth calls the city a "key location" for distribution to northeast Indiana, western Ohio and southern Michigan. The company supplies auto parts from dealerships in Marion and Kokomo.

"As a regional supplier of auto parts in Indiana, Michigan and Ohio, Jeff could have located his business anywhere in the region," said EDC President Jon Myers, "But with the help of the City we were able to work together, and locate a site that best fit the needs of the business."

G&S received a grant from the city and the Whitley County EDC to help pay for the initial phase of an environmental study of the property. The study allowed the company to proceed with its plans to build the facility.

"Columbia City is pleased to assist in the construction and expansion of G&S Auto Parts, and thank them for being a part of our community," said Columbia City Mayor Ryan Daniel, "Columbia City continues to be a great place to do business, and with the help of companies like G&S, we are building a future together."
