The Fort Wayne-based Auer Foundation has awarded more than $260,000 in grants. The donations support more than a dozen charities in northeast Indiana. May 28, 2014

News Release

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – In May 2014, the Edward D. and Ione Auer Foundation, a private charitable foundation, made gifts to 14 local organizations. Organizations and gifts:

1. Community Harvest Food Bank, Food Distribution programs, $10,000

2. Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Campus, Camp, and Fields of Faith programs, $10,000

3. Fort Wayne Children’s Choir, Participation Assistance Program, $10,000

4. Fort Wayne Museum of Art, Extension and Outreach Program, $25,000

5. Fort Wayne Philharmonic, Club Orchestra at Boys and Girls Club, $51,381

6. Fort Wayne Youtheatre, program support, $10,000

7. Heartland Chamber Chorale, educational programs, $10,000

8. History Center, Heritage Education Fund, $10,000

9. Lifetime Sports Academy, Kids Play Free program, $25,000

10. Little River Wetlands Project, operating expenses and stewardship programs, $12,000

11. Lutheran Social Services of Indiana, Children’s Village Early Learning Center, $15,000

12. SCAN, Family Restoration program and office renovations, $40,000

13. Vincent Village, Transitional Shelter Program, $20,000

14. Wellspring Interfaith Social Services, summer day camp programs, $15,000

Additional information about the Edward D. and Ione Auer Foundation The Auer Foundation is scheduled to be in existence until 2022 but will continue to impact the Fort Wayne community through endowments and scholarships. Grant selections are based on Ione Auer's past giving interests and her planning documents and from knowledge of her community involvement.

The co-trustees for the Auer Foundation are David Meyer, of Monarch Capital Management, and Lake City Bank. Additional organizations may also receive funding by submitting concept letters to the Auer Foundation. The Auer Foundation assets will be donated to accomplish and aid general charitable purposes to benefit the Fort Wayne community. In general, the interests of the Auer Foundation include music, arts, education, parks, and other charitable purposes.
