News Release

Bloomfield, Ind. — AT&T has expanded 4G LTE coverage to another part of Greene County for area residents, businesses and travelers. AT&T has upgraded an additional mobile Internet cell site near State Road 45 and County Road 200 East in the south central portion of the county. The expansion is part of its continuing network investment and ongoing AT&T 4G LTE rollout.

AT&T also has enhanced the wireless capacity and performance of its mobile Internet network throughout the Jasonville area. The network enhancement adds a new layer of frequency, also known as a “carrier,” to the Jasonville cell site to more efficiently manage available spectrum and increase mobile Internet capacity. The expansion helps manage ever-growing demand for mobile Internet services by allocating more network resources for AT&T's mobile Internet network.

“It's no secret that our citizens are doing more and more every day on their mobile devices,” said Jasonville Mayor Roy Terrell, Sr. “From business transactions and online education, to public safety and planting crops, we count on fast and reliable mobile Internet services, so this investment from AT&T is truly welcome.”

AT&T has made several additional Greene County network enhancements over the past year. AT&T expanded 4G LTE coverage to Worthington and Switz City earlier this year; and to Bloomfield, Jasonville and Linton last fall. In addition, AT&T expanded Linton mobile Internet wireless capacity in Feb. 2015.

AT&T has invested nearly $2 billion in its wireless and wired networks in Indiana between 2012 through 2014, driving a wide range of upgrades to reliability, coverage, speed and performance for residents and business customers.

“Our goal is for our customers to have an extraordinary experience, and they'll be able to download, upload, stream and game faster than ever before on our 4G LTE network,” said Bill Soards, president of AT&T Indiana. “As part of the Greene County communities, we're always looking for new opportunities to provide enhanced coverage, and our investment in the local wireless network is another way we're accomplishing that.”

AT&T's network has the nation's strongest LTE signal,2 and AT&T also has the nation's most reliable LTE network.3 AT&T 4G LTE is the latest generation of wireless network technology and provides several benefits for local residents, including faster mobile Internet speeds, improved performance, reliability and innovative new 4G LTE-compatible devices.

AT&T's 4G Network

This launch is part of AT&T's Project Velocity IP (VIP), a three-year investment plan announced in Fall 2012 to expand and enhance its IP broadband networks. Through this investment, AT&T is supporting its customers' growing desire for high-speed Internet access and new mobile, app and cloud-based services. As part of Project VIP, AT&T plans to add macro cell sites nationwide by year-end 2015, as well as deploy small cells and add Distributed Antenna Systems to increase the density of its wireless network.

AT&T's innovation and investment has resulted in a nationwide 4G network with ultra-fast speeds and a consistent user experience.

AT&T's focus to deliver the best possible mobile Internet experience goes beyond 4G to embrace additional connection technologies. AT&T operates more than 34,000 AT&T Wi-Fi Hot Spots at popular restaurants, hotels, bookstores and retailers and provides access to more than 1 million hotspots globally through roaming agreements. Most AT&T smartphone customers get access to our entire national Wi-Fi network at no additional cost, and Wi-Fi usage doesn't count against customers' monthly wireless data plans.

AT&T also is a leading developer of Distributed Antenna Systems, which utilize multiple small antennas to maximize coverage and speed within stadiums, convention centers, office buildings, hotels and other areas where traditional coverage methods are challenging.

Over the last six years (2009-2014), AT&T invested nearly $140 billion including investments in its wireless and wireline networks and acquisitions of wireless spectrum and operations. Since 2009, AT&T has invested more in the United States than any other public company. In a September 2014 report, the Progressive Policy Institute ranked AT&T No. 1 on its list of U.S. “Investment Heroes.”
