AT&T Inc. (NYSE:T) is looking to hire 40 workers in Evansville. The company says call center, retail and technician jobs are available. April 23, 2014
EVANSVILLE, IND. – AT&T today announced that the company will hire workers for more than 40 jobs in Evansville. The positions to be filled are for the local call center and retail stores, as well as technicians. All are a result of AT&T's continued investment in Indiana.
AT&T announced earlier this year that it has invested nearly $1.75 billion in its Indiana wireless and wireline networks between 2011 and 2013, including more than $325 million during the first half of 2013 alone. The network investment is part of AT&T's Project Velocity IP (VIP), a three-year investment plan announced in Fall 2012 to expand and enhance its IP broadband networks.
“People and businesses are connecting in more ways than ever before,” said State Rep. Holli Sullivan. “As a result, the potential for growth in our state's telecommunications industry is huge. We’re excited that companies such as AT&T are choosing Southwest Indiana for additional jobs and investments.”
“These jobs are tremendous for our community,” said Evansville Mayor Lloyd Winnecke. “AT&T has continually expanded and enhanced its networks here to meet consumer demand, and we appreciate their commitment to Evansville.”
AT&T jobs are among the best in the world and full- and part-time positions include competitive wages and benefits which provide security and value to the nearly 1.1 million AT&T employees, retirees and their dependents. AT&T currently employs nearly 5,000 employees throughout Indiana and consistently hires new talent. AT&T is regularly recognized for training and development programs that are among the best in the country, and invested about $280 million training employees and about $26.6 million in tuition aid during 2013. AT&T is committed to and has been recognized for diversity and veteran recruiting.
“AT&T continues to expand its customer base in Indiana and invest in our network to ensure we are providing the high level of service our customers have come to expect from the nation's most reliable 4G LTE network,” said Bill Soards, president of AT&T Indiana. “As part our commitment to this level of customer service and to support our growth in Indiana, we are pleased to have the opportunity to welcome more than 40 new employees to the AT&T team in Evansville.”
