A northwest Indiana development group is asking the town of Dyer for tax abatement on a proposed 130-bed assisted living facility. Our partners at The Times of Northwest Indiana report the plan could create up to 130 jobs. Indiana-based Main Street Exteriors also operates a facility in Westville and is building another in Merrillville.

The Times reports Crown Point-based Development Visions Group President Jeffrey Ban, who is part of the team pitching the project, says the region is ripe for development due to its high number of hospitals.

The facility would be built on a 9-acre lot that was re-zoned for special projects a decade ago.
