Arts Council Names Interim President

The Arts Council of Indianapolis has selected Shannon Linker as interim president. Linker, who currently services as vice president of the council, will assume her new role following the departure of current president and chief executive officer Dave Lawrence in August.
Lawrence previously announced he was stepping down to become the new president and CEO of the Cultural Council of Palm Beach County in Florida. The board of directors for the Arts Council of Indianapolis last week approved Linker as interim president to lead the organization through the transition.
"I am thrilled to be able to lead our team through this transition and feel very confident about the position Dave’s leadership has afforded us," said Linker. "Dave’s mark has been made on every aspect of our organization and throughout the city and will continue to be felt well into the future. We will miss so much about him, but at the same time are ready to embrace the excitement that change can bring."
Linker has been a part of the Arts Council of Indianapolis since 2002, when she was hired as the office manager. In addition to serving as vice president, Linker currently serves as the director of Gallery 924, a nonprofit gallery space in downtown Indy.
The council says Linker will work closely with the board on the national search for a permanent CEO.
