Arne Duncan to Speak at DePauw

Subscribe NowFormer United States Secretary of Education Arne Duncan will speak at DePauw University next month as part of the Ubben Lecture Series. The Chicago native and Harvard University graduate was the second longest-serving member of President Barack Obama’s administration.
Duncan’s speech, which will be followed by a question-and-answer session, is scheduled for Thursday, April 21 at 7:30 p.m. in Kresge Auditorium. The event is free and open to the public.
His focuses during his seven years in office included teacher evaluations and higher academic standards. As he announced Duncan’s resignation, President Obama said, "America will be better off for what he has done." His education career also includes leadership positions with Ariel Education Initiative and Chicago Public Schools.
The Ubben Lecture Series, designed to "bring the world to Greencastle," has presented more than 100 programs since it was established in 1986. Previous presenters include Mikhail Gorbachev, Bill Clinton, Peyton Manning and Jimmy Kimmel.
