The U.S. Department of Defense has boosted a contract with South Bend-based AM General LLC. The $11.8 million modification involves production of an additional 60 Humvees. The work for the U.S. Army National Guard will be performed in Mishawaka and estimated to be complete by year’s end.

U.S. Army Contracting Command in Warren, Michigan is the contracting activity. The deal involves the M1167 series of High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle. AM General says its approximately 230,000 HMMWVs "serve as the backbone of U.S. defense tactical vehicle fleets around the world."
