The state is asking Indiana students to submit applications for the 2018 Governor’s STEM Team. The program, developed last year by Governor Eric Holcomb and Superintendent of Public Instruction Jennifer McCormick, aims to highlight the state’s elite high school students for their work in STEM.

Four high school students will be recognized for their performance in one of the four STEM subjects: science, technology, engineering and mathematics. The winners will receive a $1,000 college scholarship from Indiana’s College Choice 529 Direct Savings plan. They will also receive letterman jackets identifying them as members of the Governor’s STEM team.

"As Indiana emphasizes the importance of STEM-related courses and their impact, we want to always identify, recognize and elevate our best and brightest science, technology, engineering and math students to honor them for their hard work," Holcomb said in a news release.

The application period runs through April 22. Holcomb, McCormick and Treasurer of State Kelly Mitchell will announce the winners in May. You can find more information on submitting an application by clicking here.

The 2017 Governor’s STEM Team included students from Columbus, Westfield, Greenfield and Marion.
