Applegate Closing Union City Facility

Applegate makes various types of livestock equipment

A subsidiary of Canada-based Ag Growth International is closing its facility in Union City. In a notice to the state, Applegate Livestock Equipment Inc. says the closure will leave 80 employees out of work.

Applegate says the closure is expected to begin on June 14 and will be completed by the end of the month. All employees were notified that the facility was closing and the layoffs would be permanent.

Applegate produces a variety of livestock equipment, such as cattle gates, feeders, stock tanks and horse stalls, among others.
