Indianapolis-based Anthem Inc. has named John Gallina chief financial officer. He is a 22-year veteran of the insurance provider and will also serve as executive vice president. Gallina is currently senior vice president and CFO of Anthem’s Commercial and Specialty Business Division. His previous positions with Anthem include senior vice president, chief accounting officer and chief risk officer and top-level roles in internal audit and continuous improvement and comprehensive health services. Gallina will be instrumental in the company’s planned $54 billion merger with Cigna. He will succeed Wayne DeVeydt, who the company said is resigning to focus on family commitments and philanthropic work. DeVeydt has been with the company for more than a decade, most of which as executive vice president and CFO. Gallina is set to take on the new role June 1.
