Another Austin Flight Adds to Indy Nonstop Options
Southwest Airlines Co. (NYSE: LUV) has announced a seasonal nonstop flight to Austin, Texas. The destination is important for the state’s technology community, as Austin is one of the centers of the tech industry in the U.S. Allegiant Airlines began flying to Austin in May. IND now offers a total of 47 nonstop flights.
At the end of July, Southwest announced its first international nonstop out of Indianapolis: a seasonal flight to Cancun International Airport. Airport Authority Executive Director Mario Rodriguez says the new Austin flight is "a firm statement that the Indy airport is connecting Indy-area businesses to key industries across the continent, and we continue to position our tech-driven city in the best light."
Southwest will begin flying to Austin April 8. Flights are slated to depart IND Sundays at 4:20 p.m.
