It is the seventh consecutive year the Steuben County city has made the list, which ranks communities based on the number of new corporate facility projects they have ongoing.
A micropolitan statistical area, according to the U.S. Census Bureau, is a region of one or more counties with one city of 10,000 to 50,000 people. In order to be included on the list, a micropolitan must have new facilities or expansion projects that meet at least one of three criteria: involve a capital investment of at least $1 million, create at least 20 jobs, or add at least 20,000 square feet of new floor area.
Angola is tied for 10th on the list with seven ongoing facility projects. Isaac Lee, executive director of the Steuben County Economic Development Corp., says being included on the list is an honor.
"Ranking tied for 10th for the second time in two years, is the highest our community has ranked," said Lee. "This is a testament to the many organizations and individuals that partner to achieve this award. Furthermore, to be listed with other Northeast Indiana communities just goes to show that we have a lot to offer here in the region."
Several other Indiana communities are included on the list. Plymouth is tied for 29th, followed by Auburn, Frankfort, Huntington, and Warsaw, which are all tied for 62nd.
