Angie’s List Releases Consumer Complaints Rankings

Indianapolis-based Angie’s List Inc. (Nasdaq: ANGI) has released its annual rankings of service categories with the most and least complaints. Piano tuning led the least complaints list for the second consecutive year, while home warranties, cable TV and internet service tied for first place in the most complaints list.
The company says the services with the more favorable reviews tend to be locally-based and "focused on personal interactions." Angie’s List Co-Founder Angie Hicks said, "Consumers are happiest when they receive highly personalized care from service providers whether that’s from the company owner or friendly, qualified staff."
The categories with the least complaints in 2015 include:
- Piano tuning
- Paper shredding
- Window tinting
- Stereo and home theater system installers
- Dryer vent cleaning
- Dog walking
- Upholstering
- Piano moving
- Closet specialists
- Radon detection and reduction
- Oriental rug cleaning
- Garage doors
- Screen repair
- Hauling
- Animal and house sitting
- Oil and other lubricant changes
- Locksmiths
The categories with the most complaints in 2015 include:
- Home warranties, cable TV and internet service tied for first place.
- Landline telephone service
- Property management
- Furniture sales and satellite TV service tied for sixth place.
- Cellular phone service
- Home builders
Companies are graded in consumer reviews on an A-F scale. The list ranks companies based on the percentage of C, D and F grades from their total reviews.
