Anderson Museum’s Military Items Hit Auction Block

Many remaining items displayed at a soon-to-be-closed military museum in Anderson have been auctioned. Our partners at The Herald-Bulletin report McClain’s Historical Military Armor Museum, which was recently sold in a tax auction, has an August deadline to exit the property it’s called home for more than 25 years.
The publication reports auction items included fire trucks made in Anderson by the defunct Howe Fire Apparatus Co., a submarine, military cargo trucks and trailers and other historic and warehouse-related items. The museum is located in the former Lynch Machinery facility. Some museum items have already made their way to other museums.
The auction at McClain’s Historical Military Armor Museum took place Saturday, July 7.
Editor’s Note: A previous version of the story had the incorrect auction date.
