An Anderson bakery famous for its “accidental” chocolate chip cookie recipe will close its doors at the end of the year. Our partners at The Herald Bulletin report owner Judy Zinszer is negotiating the sale of Zinszer's Bakery and Cookie's LLC with a potential buyer in Georgia. The sale would mean the Anderson bakery will close, but the recipe will live through the new owner.

The “accidental” recipe was discovered when an employee of Zinszer's husband's New Castle deli threw the wrong ingredient into a batch of dough. The result was the puffy, gooey center that became a gourmet cookie.

Zinszer says she is leaving the bakery business. She hopes to write a book and share the stories about some of her favorite cookie recipes.
