Amazon adding 1,000 jobs at new Elkhart fulfillment center

Amazon is now hiring for more than 1,000 full-time positions as it prepares to finally open its new, 800,000-square-foot fulfillment center in Elkhart. The facility was originally slated to open in 2023 but has faced continued delays.
The online retail giant said in a news release that the jobs come with an average starting wage of over $19 per hour, with a range of benefits available on day one.
“As we prepare to launch our new robotics facility in Elkhart, we’re excited to create 1,000 full-time jobs that combine competitive wages, comprehensive benefits, and opportunities to work with advanced technology,” Kyle DeGiulio, Amazon regional economic development manager, said in the release. “These roles offer a strong foundation for building a career at Amazon while contributing to our growing presence in Indiana.”
Plans for the 1 million-square-foot facility were first announced in 2021. Earlier this year, our partners at WSBT-TV reported residents were receiving flyers in the mail noting future job opportunities, but the company said at that time there was not a specific timeline for the facility to open.
Amazon spokesperson Andrew Woodson told Inside INdiana Business on Friday that the facility is slated to open in the next few months.

Amazon employs more than 26,000 full- and part-time employees across 37 facilities throughout Indiana.
