South Bend-based AM General LLC has announced an investment in Illinois-based artillery solutions company Mandus Group. Terms of the investment are not being disclosed, however a spokesperson for AM General says the company now has an ownership stake in Mandus Group.
AM General says the investment will help accelerate the deployment of various vehicle-mounted weapon systems, including those for the types of Humvees manufactured by the South Bend company. The investment also further aligns AM General’s vehicle offerings with the U.S. Army’s top priorities, according to the company.
"The AM General investment in Mandus Group demonstrates our collective commitment to the Quad Cities region and greatly facilitates cost effective and rapid delivery of the next generation artillery system to the soldier," said Kevin Jansen, president of Mandus Group. "The marrying of our product capabilities with AM General’s global reach allows for an unprecedented leap forward in artillery technology."
AM General produces various Humvees for the U.S. military. Most recently, the company was awarded $210 million in contracts to produce 740 Humvees for the Army National Guard, along with technical support services.
