The U.S. Department of Defense has awarded a major five-year contract to South Bend-based AM General LLC. The more than $69 million contract calls for the production of Humvee engines for the U.S. Army.

The DOD did not specify the number of engines that will be manufactured as part of the contract. Work will be performed in Indiana and is expected to be complete in May of 2023.

The Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime in Michigan is the contracting activity.
