AM General Awarded $210M in Military Contracts

South Bend-based AM General LLC has received two major military contracts from the U.S. Army. The company will receive a total of $210 million for the production of 740 Humvees for the Army National Guard, as well as technical support services for the vehicles.
The manufacturing of the Humvees represents one contract worth $89 million. The five-year contract for systems technical support for the Humvees, which includes engineering, logistics, and quality assurance projects, is valued at $121 million.
"At AM General, we pride ourselves in our ability to meet our customer’s needs, which is why we are able to provide the U.S. Army with new, updated light tactical vehicles as well as support them by continuously improving the existing fleet and developing new technologies for the platform," Chris Vanslager, executive vice president of U.S. defense for AM General, said in a news release. "The recent STS services contract award also provides us the opportunity to improve our product while closely working alongside our government partners to support the (vehicles)."
Delivery of the Humvees is expected to begin in the second quarter of 2019.
