Alorica Closing Terre Haute Call Center

A call center in Terre Haute is closing. California-based Alorica Inc. says 195 workers will lose their jobs as a result. The last day of operations is expected to be December 29.
In a notice to the state, Alorica said "business needs and operational efficiencies" led to the decision. The majority of the positions are customer service representatives. The facility is located at 1800 Fort Harrison Road in Terre Haute.
"It is always a hard decision to say goodbye to some of our amazing team members who have worked with us over the years," the company said in a statement to Inside INdiana Business. "As we implement new initiatives to stay on top of market trends and evolve with our clients’ business needs, we sadly must make changes that sometimes impact our people. We thank each of our departing colleagues for their contributions and we are committed to treating them with respect, as we do all our employees, during this transition."
The company says it is working with the Indiana Department of Workforce Development and the mayor’s office in Terre Haute on next steps for the affected employees.
