AgriNovus Indiana has begun a survey of businesses to “better understand their greatest hiring challenges both now and in the future.”
The organization says the state will need a robust and extensive pipeline of talent to contribute to efforts of feeding a growing population with fewer resources while preserving the planet.
AgriNovus says one of the ways to address the talent gap is to start early by informing young students of career pathways in food and agriculture.
“Indiana employers agree that efforts to create agbioscience-literate talent in allied fields and tech talent in core occupations need to start at the high school level,” the organization says. “Students are often already on a degree path once they reach college, at which point it is often too late to facilitate a cross-sector mindset.”
AgriNovus says the outcome of the survey will be used to define and strengthen Hoosier high school education programs that align with the state’s growing needs for talent.
The deadline for completing the survey is July 24.
