Proposals for the Gabbard Building in Aurora include turning it into a farmers’ market or year-round haunted house and theater space.
The organization says the building is surrounded by empty lots as a result of the recession in 2008. After a Request for Proposals from Indiana Landmarks’ Southeast Field Office and the Aurora Historic Preservation Commission, two interested parties submitted proposals.
The Hydrogen Super Highway proposal involves the lower-floor farmers market as well as space for rural and urban agriculture as well as a possible rooftop deck. Scream Acres Court’s plan includes the haunted house as well as a coffee shop, theater and an outdoor stage.
