An Indiana organization is among 27 throughout the United States chosen to take part in a national STEM initiative. The Indiana Afterschool Network is part of the first cohort of the national STEM Ecosystems Initiative, which aims to develop an educational infrastructure ensuring that "STEM learning is truly everywhere."

The Indiana Afterschool Network was chosen from among a pool of more than 70 applicants. The STEM Ecosystems Initiative says the 27 selections have shown success in delivering STEM learning beyond the classroom in areas including afterschool and summer programming, as well as library, science center and home efforts.

The first cohort will receive coaching and support from superintendents, scientists and industry leaders. The selected organizations are:
