The acting U.S. Surgeon General is set Tuesday to visit the American College of Sports Medicine in Indianapolis. Rear Admiral Boris Lushniak will meet with city, medical and business leaders about physical activity and walkability initiatives. June 13, 2014

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Acting US Surgeon General Rear Admiral Boris D. Lushniak, M.D., MPH will visit the Indianapolis headquarters of the American College of Sports Medicine(ACSM) and meet with a diverse group of Indianapolis leaders representing ACSM, the mayor's office, state and county public health departments, hospitals, physician groups, NIFS, YMCA and other health and fitness organizations. Dr. Lushniak will share his vision for a healthier country and dialogue about the surgeon general's Every Body Walk! Initiative and how city leaders can help enable active living communities. At the conclusion of the session, RADM Lushniak will lead a “Walk with the Surgeon General” along the downtown canal.

Indianapolis, Indiana

WHO: RADM Lushniak will meet leaders and physical fitness advocates who are positioned to effect change in the Indianapolis community. The group will identify ways Indianapolis can build upon current physical activity initiatives and support walking and walkability.
