Acquisition Continues Eventful Year For Busche Owner
Compass Automotive Group has manufacturing operations in Indiana and Michigan and Sales offices in Michigan and Japan.

Subscribe NowAlbion-based Busche Enterprise Division Inc. says an acquisition by its New Hampshire-based parent company will expand Busche CNC’s aluminum castings capabilities. Shipston Equity Holdings LLC says Compass Automotive Group LLC, which has locations in Franklin and Michigan, will be called Shipston Aluminum Technologies International as a result of the merger.
Busche President Nick Busche says the aluminum castings supplier has more than 400 employees working in nearly 350,000 square-feet of space combined from its two operations. Busche says the company "now has nine world-class machining operations, one premier work holding and fixturing facility and now two superior aluminum design and casting foundries. This combination brings our total employment to over 1,200 strong and total manufacturing area to nearly 1,200,000 square-feet. Also with S.A.T.’s connections to the Asian and European OEMs, as well as major Tier 1 suppliers, the opportunities for Busche to offer our CNC machining expertise to the international markets have increased immensely."
Busche calls the acquisition "transformative" and says the parent company is continuing to explore other merger and internal growth opportunities. Nick Busche says the objective of the company since last year has been to double in size and boost its global presence.
In May, Busche announced a planned $22 million investment into its Alabama facility, which includes an additional 100 workers.
Shipston acquired Busche a year ago. Shipston Equity Holdings Chairman Michael Dingman says the combined companies are poised to grow toward $1 billion in revenue.
