Accuride Subsidiary Lands Contract

A division of Accuride Corp. (NYSE: ACW) in Evansville has landed a contract from the Detroit subsidiary of Daimler Trucks North America. Accuride says the deal with Daimler’s Detroit subsidiary is among a series of new contracts for Brillion totaling $15 million.
Brillion, which is based in Wisconsin, will begin production of the flywheels in the second half of 2016. Financial terms of the contract have not been released. It calls for Brillion Iron Works to supply the machined flywheel use with Detroit’s DT12 automated manual transmission.
"Brillion’s recent capital investments – coupled with our relentless focus on Lean manufacturing and our strong partnerships with Diamond Precision and the United Steelworkers – enabled Brillion Iron Works to competitively earn this new business from Detroit Diesel Corporation, a Daimler company," said David Adams, president of Brillion Iron Works.
Brillion says the manufacturing of the flywheels will be done in collaboration with Wisconsin-based Diamond Precision Products, which will provide machining and final assembly. The company says the contract is among its first to supply fully cast and machined components to suppliers in the commercial vehicle industry.
