Fort Wayne-based  Aardvark Straws says its plan to ramp up production after last year’s acquisition by Hoffmaster Group Inc. is on track. The paper straw manufacturer says its newly-opened Fort Wayne facility has helped it work through a 12-month backlog of production and orders.

Since the acquisition, Hoffmaster has been pursuing a 6-9-month expansion plan to expand Aardvark’s manufacturing capacity to meet the growing demand for viable plastic straw alternatives.

Aardvark says it has met this expansion plan and is currently on track to increase capacity by 700% by the end of 2019.

“We are excited to serve our customers, both old and new, better than ever before. The teams behind Hoffmaster and Aardvark have worked diligently to satisfy delayed orders and have the ability to take on new ones,” said Andy Romjue, president of Hoffmaster’s Foodservice Division, in a news release.
