AAA Hoosier Motor Club is projecting more than one million Hoosiers will travel this Thanksgiving, a 1.1 percent increase over 2014. The organization also says drivers will enjoy the lowest Thanksgiving gas prices in around seven years. Indiana’s current average is $1.98 per gallon, almost one dollar lower than last year.

Nationwide, AAA Travel says nearly 47 million Americans will travel at least 50 miles from home, which is a 0.6 percent increase over last year and the highest total since 2007. This would mark the seventh consecutive year of growth.

The organization says driving remains the most popular mode of Thanksgiving travel. It expects more than 941,000 Hoosiers and nearly 42 million Americans to drive to their destinations this year. Both are increases over last year.
