$400M Project Getting Spotlight at Notre Dame

The University of Notre Dame Sunday will publicly showcase the new facilities associated with its largest-ever construction project. The $400 million Campus Crossroads initiative involves three additional buildings connected to Notre Dame Stadium and upgrades to the historic sports venue.

As part of what the school calls its Kicks and Flicks Week, which starts Sunday and runs through Friday, the Fighting Irish football team will play a New & Gold Game scrimmage. Notre Dame opens the home season September 2 against Temple University.

Campus Crossroads includes the new O’Neill Hall, Corbett Family Hall and Duncan Student Center, as well as new luxury amenities, wider bowl seats, video board, sideline "ribbon" video boards, updated bathrooms and improvements to the concession stands and main concourse.

In addition to a significant economic boost provided by Notre Dame football — $15 million per home game weekend, according to the South Bend Regional Chamber of Commerce — the university released a report that estimates community nonprofits have earned $1.7 million through their gameday concession stand work over the last five years. Officials say the community impact could increase because of Campus Crossroads.
