3M Investing in Hartford City Plant

The Hartford City Council has approved a 10-year tax abatement for Minnesota-based 3M. As a result, the company will invest $3.5 million in its Hartford City plant.
The investment will allow for equipment upgrades at the plant, which employs nearly 200 people. The 235,000 square-foot plant manufactures hundreds of different types of specialty and industrial tapes and adhesives.
According to 3M’s web site, it began operations in Hartford City in 1955 when it purchased the Hartford City Paper Company. 3M was also named one of the "World’s Most Ethical Companies" by Ethisphere Institute earlier this month.
