South Bend-based Figuro3D has been awarded a High-Potential Startup Grant from Elevate Ventures. The company, which is located in Innovation Park, develops three-dimensional scanning technology used to speed up the manufacturing quality-control process. Northern Indiana is one of several regions throughout the state where Elevate Ventures is focusing on boosting entrepreneurship.
The HPSG program offers pre-seed funds of up to $25,000. Figuro3D says the investment will accelerate the development of a prototype and "create a market ready product." Chief Executive Officer Dr. Paul Brenner says "the Elevate Ventures HPSG funding and suite of Indiana technical startup services has accelerated our product design and fabrication timeline to help our Indiana homed company develop new 3D scanning tools which will increase Indiana and regional manufacturing competitiveness."
Elevate Ventures Chief Executive Officer Chris LaMothe calls the grants critical to the region and says "Elevate Ventures’ partnership in North Central Indiana with Startup South Bend Elkhart and increased capital investments are acting as catalysts in the region to expand entrepreneurial activity."
The founders of Figuro3D were the technical development minds behind the Digital Historical Architecture Research and Materials Analysis project at the University of Notre Dame, which involved creating photo realistic models sites including the Roman Forum and the Taj Mahal. Their involvement demonstrated a potential market for cheaper, faster and easier-to-use 3D scanning products. You can connect to more about the company by clicking here.
