Construction has started on the $35 million Anson Senior Living Community and Memory Care Center in Whitestown. Plans call for nearly 180 units in four-story and two-story facilities.

Denver-based Spectrum Retirement says the project is expected to be complete next year. It will sit on 4.9 acres near I-65 in the Boone County community. The developer has two existing senior care communities in central Indiana and two being built.

Amenities in the new Anson project will include a movie theater, salon, bistro, chef-prepared meals and retail space. Spectrum Managing Director Jeff Kraus says "Whitestown is the fastest-growing community in the state, and its boomers and seniors deserve a community that feels like home, yet also offers a wide range of amenities and extra care when they need it."

Carmel-based Mainstreet is also building a 96-unit senior community in Whitestown, which Town Manager Dax Norton says "will help us ensure that all ages have great residential options right here in Whitestown."
