Infrastructure Projects Receive $55M in Awards The organization says about 150

The Indianapolis Metropolitan Planning Organization has awarded $55.5 million in federal funding for projects that will go to bid in Fiscal Year 2024. The funding will support electric buses, pedestrian safety enhancements and roundabouts in Beech Grove, Carmel, Fishers and Indianapolis.

All projects fall into one of four funding categories: safety, air quality, transportation alternatives and surface transportation. Funded projects span Avon, Beech Grove, Carmel, Fishers, Franklin, Greenfield, Hamilton County, Indianapolis and Westfield.

“With requests for 69 projects totaling $180 million, it is clear that infrastructure needs in Central Indiana are great,” said Anna Gremling, executive director of the Indianapolis MPO. “This funding will help local governments address the ongoing challenges of building and maintaining the infrastructure that is so critical to the regional and state economies.”
