16 Tech Awards Second Round of Community Grants

Indianapolis-based 16 Tech Community Corp. is awarding more than $500,000 in its second round of grant funding as part of the inaugural year of the 16 Tech Community Investment Fund. The nonprofit says the funding will support 14 projects and resident-led initiatives near the 16 Tech Innovation District.
Earlier this year, 16 Tech awarded $500,000 in grant funding to 15 projects in the Near West, Near Northwest and surrounding neighborhoods.
“The 16 Tech Community Investment Fund fall slate of grantees exemplifies the impactful, thoughtful work happening in the neighborhoods surrounding 16 Tech,” said Bob Coy, president of 16 Tech. “The projects address each of our funding priority areas and represent a broad spectrum of organizations from grassroots to institutions.”
16 Tech says the community investment fund, which is guided by an advisory committee, invests in workforce training, business support, education, neighborhood capacity building, and infrastructure and beautification.
The nonprofit says grants were awarded from two funding pools: the innovation pool and the impact pool. The innovation pool funded requests up to $25,000 from neighborhood organizations with annual operating budgets of less than $1 million, and the impact pool funded requests up to $100,000.
