Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College's Class of 1965 has presented a check to the school for more than $1 million. The gift was part of the class' 50th reunion banquet, and follows a similar gift last year from the Class of 1964.

Last year, the Class of 1964 gave a combined gift of $1,001,964 and challenged the Class of 1965 to top that total. The group of more than 50 women met the challenge, donating a total of $1,045,000. The Class of 1965 has already challenged next year's 50th anniversary group to top its total.

The gift marks the latest fundraising success for the school. The college announced last week that it met its Woods Fund goal for the first time in seven years, raising nearly $1 million.
