Spencer, USAF (Ret.) to its board of directors. He served 44 years in the United States Air Force, retiring as a four-star general in October 2015.
General Spencer served as vice chief of staff of the USAF and served as a member of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Requirements Oversight Council and Deputy Advisory Working Group. He assisted the chief of staff with organizing, training, and equipping of 660,000 active-duty, Guard, Reserve and civilian forces serving in the United States and overseas. General Spencer was commissioned through Officer Training School in 1980 as a distinguished graduate. He commanded a squadron, group and wing, and was vice commander of the Oklahoma City Air Logistics Center, which provides maintenance, repair and overhaul services. He served as the chief financial officer and then director of mission support at a major command.
General Spencer currently serves as a director of the Whirlpool Corporation and is a member of its finance committee and the corporate governance and nominating committee. He also serves as a director of The Triumph Group where he serves as chairman of the governance and nominating committee and as a member of the audit and finance committees.
General Spencer received his bachelor of science degree in industrial engineering technology from Southern Illinois University. He has a master of science degree in business management from Webster College, and a master of science degree in industrial resource strategy from the National Defense University.
