Melton to Make Gubernatorial Announcement

Subscribe NowState Senator Eddie Melton (D-Gary) is set to make an announcement Tuesday evening in the Lake County city. Melton says he will give details on a decision related to the gubernatorial exploratory committee he formed in June.
The senator will talk about the community conversations he has had since establishing the committee. Indiana Superintendent of Public Instruction Jennifer McCormick, who joined Melton during part of his statewide listening tour, will be on hand for the announcement.
Since Melton formed the exploratory committee, two people have announced their bids for the Democratic nomination for governor. They include former Indiana State Health Commissioner Dr. Woody Myers and Josh Owens, chief executive officer of Indianapolis-based tech company SupplyKick.
Melton’s announcement is scheduled to take place 5:30 p.m. Central Time at the Gary Public Library and Cultural Center. The event will also be live streamed on Melton’s Facebook page.
