Indianapolis-based Flaherty & Collins Properties says it plans to begin work next month on The Strand, a three-building campus in the middle of the city’s NewPorte Landing redevelopment project.
The La Porte Redevelopment Commission last year selected Flaherty & Collins to develop the project. The Strand will feature 200 new living units, 5,000 square feet of retail space, and amenities such as a resort-style pool, outdoor courtyard, a pet wash and bark park, fitness center, and bike storage and repair.
"We are looking forward to starting The Strand," Julie Collier, vice president of development and lead project developer for Flaherty & Collins, said in a news release. "The City has been a great partner in this project, and we believe The Strand will be a vital component for helping the City realize its vision for NewPorte Landing, while giving new residents an exciting living destination that energizes the Clear Lake area."
The commission is supporting the project with Tax Increment Financing, according to the developer. The Strand is expected to be complete by the third quarter of 2021.
