Micropulse Inc. has announced plans to invest nearly $7 million to expand its Columbia City facility and create up to 25 jobs by the end of 2020.
The Indiana Economic Development Corp. says the company will add 15,000 square feet to its 160,000-square-foot facility, while also renovating 3,000 square feet of existing space to make it "better suited for growth." The company says the project will allow it to serve an increasing customer base, providing medical instrumentation, implants, sterilization cases and trays, as well as sterile packaging services for the orthopedic industry.
"It is humbling to see the ongoing support our local government and community extend to Micropulse," said Brian More, chief financial officer of Micropulse. "Whitley County and the state of Indiana have always partnered with Micropulse to help realize our growth initiatives. Our vision is to always be better; work alongside our employees to be better people, bring added value to our customers and help build our local community. Sustained growth does not happen without the talented, committed and loyal employees who exemplify the Micropulse core values."
Construction on the addition is expected to begin later this summer and the company plans to be fully operational in the updated facility by the fall of 2020. The company currently employs more than 360 in Whitley County and is hiring for a variety of positions, including machine operators, and manufacturing and quality engineers.
The IEDC has offered Micropulse up to $115,000 in conditional tax credits, which the company will not be eligible to claim until Hoosier workers are hired for the new jobs. The Whitley County Council and Northeast Indiana Works will also provide additional resources and incentives.
The announcement comes nearly two years after Micropulse announced plans to invest $5.5 million and create 25 jobs at the Columbia City plant.
