Dutton, a partner with Indianapolis-based law firm Barnes & Thornburg LLP, will receive the award Saturday evening at the TechPoint Mira Awards gala.
The Bridge Builder Award is presented to a person, program, or organization "that has transformed science, technology, engineering, and mathematics education for Indiana students who are typically underrepresented in those same industries," according to the foundation.
The foundation says Dutton was selected for his efforts in forming and shaping the organizations that ultimately became TechPoint and the TechPoint Foundation for Youth. He has served a combined 27 years as a member of the boards of directors for each organization.
"TechPoint Foundation was envisioned as a way for the tech community to give back," Dutton said in a news release. "The focus was always on finding a way to supplement the philanthropy made possible with the influx brought about by the new economy being buoyed by Indiana’s local manufacturing and financial sectors. TechPoint and its predecessors have moved Central Indiana from a technology backwater to a national player and Techpoint Foundation for Youth has done so much with so little. Its focus on STEM education has moved the needle in Indiana."
The Mira Awards will take place at the JW Marriott hotel in downtown Indianapolis.
