Purdue University’s College of Education is bringing back one of its former doctoral programs. The college’s doctoral degree in higher education will be renewed after being suspended for nearly a decade. 

Educational leadership and policy studies professors, Christine Kiracofe and Lisa Snodgrass are resurrecting the program. Kiracofe says the work to renew the program has included updates in the field that have taken place over the past decade. 

“The program now includes a study abroad component to give students international comparative education experiences, and an internship component which will be personalized to the student depending on their area of interest in higher education,” said Kiracofe.

The degree is intended to prepare students in a broad range of higher education leadership roles, with coursework being offered in a hybrid format to allow students to participate in real-time, online video classes. Course topics include external political and policy environments, legal issues and economics. 

The deadline for students to apply is May 30.
