The company is initially investing $35 million to transform more than 70 acres of the former Indianapolis International Airport terminal site into a training center and 250-person residential facility totaling 125,000 square feet.
Construction on the first phase of the development is expected to be complete in 2020. The Indiana Economic Development Corp. says the facility will be used to train the company’s U.S. employees and provide training programs for clients that want to reskill their own employees. The tech giant ultimately plans around 3,000 jobs in Indy.
When the effort was first announced in April, Infosys said it could eventually double its presence on-site and invest a total of $245 million, though nothing has been made official.
Governor Eric Holcomb, Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett, and Indianapolis Airport Authority Executive Director Mario Rodriguez will join Infosys executives for the groundbreaking ceremony.
