Carmel-based Applegate Elder Law has added Ann Smith as an associate attorney. She will focus on probate and guardianship cases and will help clients create estate plans that will protect their loved ones and assets.

Before becoming a lawyer, Smith worked with nonprofits for 20 years as an operations manager and major gift fundraiser. She earned her undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina and attended Indiana University to earn her Masters in Public Affairs and Masters in Philanthropic Studies.

In 2010, she graduated cum laude from the Robert H. McKinney School of Law at IU. She is now a member of the National Association of Elder Law Attorneys, ElderCounsel, American Bar, Indiana State Bar and Indianapolis Bar Associations.
