The school earlier this year graduated its 200th student and Chairman Scott Jones says further growth is expected both in the state and beyond. In an interview on Inside INdiana Business with Gerry Dick, Jones said graduate compensation is especially telling.
"We have an 80 percent graduation rate, which is way off the charts compared to any other institution in Indiana," said Jones. "And we have a 92 percent placement rate of those graduates who are then getting average (starting) salaries of $70,000 and a signing bonus of $2,500 cash. It’s really amazing what’s been built here."
Eleven Fifty President John Qualls says the coding academy typically sees three types of students: young people who haven’t identified a career path yet, current workers who are looking for a change in career, and workers who are simply looking to skill-up. Qualls says just in the last month, Eleven Fifty has been approved to receive funds from the G.I. Bill. "There’s 12,000 to 14,000 folks here in Indiana through the reserve and active military that we can really help."
Jones says other states, including Kentucky and Alabama, have reached out to potentially bring Eleven Fifty to them. He says they’re talking to communities throughout Indiana to set up new locations as well.
