Construction will begin on what the city calls "key connectors" to its trail system. The more than $1.5 million Pike Place park project is supported through a public-private partnership that includes the state, city, Montgomery County Community Foundation, Wabash College, Vectren Foundation and Tipmont REMC. Trailhead Park, which will costs $480,000, is full-funded through Stellar Communities.
The city says the parks were both designed by Indianapolis-based HWC Engineering. Zionsville’s RL Turner will handle construction, which is slated to be complete by November. Planning has taken two years. Trailhead Park’s final name, which will serve as a tribute to late-former mayor and trail advocate Phil Michal, will be announced later.
The Trailhead Park ceremony will start at 3:30 p.m., followed by the Pike Place ceremony at 4:00 p.m.
