Our partners at WPTA-TV report IU Health is among four groups that have submitted qualifications for the North River property.
In October, IU Health announced plans to expand into the Fort Wayne market with a primary care medical office, slated to open in the first quarter of 2018. The health system said additional outpatient locations in the Allen County city were possible.
The other companies that have expressed interest in the former OmniSource Corp. property are Decatur-based Biggs Property Management, Minnesota-based Continental Property Group and Great Lakes Capital in South Bend.
The city says it is in the process of putting the information together, which could take around five months, and could have a possible project for the site in place by the end of the year. Construction on a project at the site could begin in late 2019, according to WPTA.
Fort Wayne acquired the property in November for $4.6 million. The city is currently working to make the site ready for redevelopment with projects this year including storm sewer work, brick salvaging work, and potentially more environmental testing or confirmation of previous data collected from the site.
