A nearly three-decade veteran of the Fort Wayne Parks & Recreation Department has been named director. Steve McDaniel, who has served as deputy director of asset management since 2007, will succeed Al Moll. Moll held the position since 2005 and announced his retirement last month.

McDaniel takes the lead of a department with an annual operating budget of more than $18 million and a capital budget of almost $8 million. His previous positions include project administration manager, project representative and engineering intern. McDaniel has also been a construction estimating instructor at IPFW.

McDaniel said "I’ve been with the department for my entire professional career, and I’m excited about this opportunity to be its next director. We’re fortunate to be part of a community that values parks, and we have a team of employees who are committed to providing excellent services and offerings to the public."
