Just days after announcing a move to the United Soccer League, the Indy Eleven has named a new head coach. Martin Rennie, who has coached teams in the U.S., Canada and South Korea, succeeds Tim Hankinson, who left the team last year after coaching for two seasons.

The team says Rennie is the only person to have served as a head coach in every North American soccer league, including Major League Soccer.

"I’m excited to be adding such a well-qualified candidate that understands what it takes to be a winner," said Jeff Belskus, president of Indy Eleven. "Martin’s knowledge, leadership, and experience are the qualities needed to help Indy Eleven succeed in our inaugural USL season. We look forward to working with Martin to build a team Indiana soccer fans will be proud to support."

Rennie has won a USL Championship as the coach of the now-defunct Cleveland City Stars. He also led the Vancouver Whitecaps to the MLS Playoffs.

Terms of Rennie’s contract were not disclosed. Jeff Belskus will appear on Inside INdiana Business with Gerry Dick this weekend to discuss the team’s latest moves. You can find out when the show will air in your area by clicking here.
